My winner: Image 4 — "President Sitting Buffalo / What if…"
Wildcard rewards the swing, and this is the only entry actually swinging. Image 1 ("Friday in Italy") is a beautiful Riviera postcard with zero personality — the kind of sunset that ships preinstalled on a phone. Image 2 ("La bella pastorella") is dirndl-and-Hereford alpine kitsch, charming but it could be any Tuesday. Image 3 ("Friday's milkshake") is the dark-horse — a rainbow chameleon nursing a tiny milk bottle is properly off the rails and the colors are great, but it's a meme more than a piece. Image 4 commits to a full alt-history premise — a Native chief seated in an Oval Office hung with bison-and-eagle flags, formal portraiture lighting, "What if…" stamped right in the title — and the brief literally says wildcard. It's the only image where the concept is the point and the execution earns it: symmetry, palette, and gravitas all working together. The others are pictures; this one is a thesis.
