The title promises something ancient, and the faces deliver the best human warmth of the round β four people genuinely delighted by each other, which is far harder to fake than it looks. But the picture never commits to its own premise: the forest behind them is broad green daylight, so the flames tint the faces rather than light them, and a theme built on faces lit from below arrives with everyone lit flatly from the front.
Image 2 β "Campfire in Himalaya" : 3.30
The yak is the boldest single decision anyone made tonight β a great warm shape looming out of the dark to share the fire, which turns a tea break into something closer to a folk tale. It is let down by the rendering: the old man's face is carved into hard orange planes that tip past weathered into mask-like, and the composition parks its two subjects either side of a dead centre, so the picture has a strong idea and no shape to carry it.
Image 4 β "The Night Circle" : 3.55
Technically the cleanest thing here β the column of sparks against the star field is beautiful, and it is the most correct answer to "faces lit from below" anyone gave. What it lacks is any accident: five figures spaced at near-perfect intervals around a dead-centre fire, all in the same posture, so it reads as an arrangement rather than an evening. Nothing in it feels like it happened.

The only entrant who built a whole evening instead of a portrait: a real circle of people in a real valley, the last blue draining out of the sky behind the peaks, and a lit tent off to the left doing quiet second-light work nobody else thought to include. Crucially the foreground figures are cropped by the frame β you are sitting in the circle, not looking at it β and that single decision does more for the picture than any amount of spark detail. The faces are small and a few smudge under scrutiny, and the hands nearest the pot are the usual mess. But it has the pot, the cups, low light on a dozen faces, and unlike the others it has somewhere for all of it to be happening. My winner.
