Image 4 — "When blue represents life" : 3.35
The cleverest thought in the round: a warm yellow child's bedroom where the only blue in the frame is the ocean on a desktop globe, blue as water, water as life. As an idea it is genuinely inverted and I would love to have seen it delivered. But the picture does not carry it — this is a stock sunny-nursery render, pleasant and forgettable, and nothing in the composition draws you to the globe or makes the oceans sing. Strip the title away and no one connects this image to the theme at all, which means the concept is living in the caption rather than on the canvas.

Image 2 — "Wild fires in the mountain bushes" : 3.65
A properly eerie premise — wildfire creeping through mountain scrub with every flame burning cold blue, a familiar disaster made alien. The landscape itself is well built, with real atmospheric depth across the ridges and smoke that behaves like smoke. What holds it back is that the fire never quite belongs to the scene: it does not throw blue light onto the bushes it is consuming, so it reads as a colour swapped after the fact rather than a world with different physics. Commit to the lie completely and this would have won.

Image 3 — "Even cat understands. It's a blue world" : 3.85
The one that lands emotionally before you have finished looking at it. Blue hour and rain do the work honestly here — no trickery, just cold light, a wet window and a small animal watching the city go about its evening without her. The scattered orange of the streetlamps and lit windows is what makes it: pull that warmth out and the picture dies, and whoever made this knew it. Beaded rain on the glass, the dying plant, the leaves gone brown on the sill — the details are patient and exact. It costs itself the win only by choosing the most photographed mood in the world; a cat at a rainy window is territory a thousand images already occupy.

Image 1 — "Impasto painting - Shepherd with his flock" : 3.90
This one took the theme at its word and repainted an entire world in a single hue, which is a far braver reading than it first appears — a pastoral scene has no business being blue, and rendering the sky, the road, the hedges and even the sheep in one cold register turns an ordinary walk home into something remembered rather than seen. The impasto is real, not a filter: directional strokes, palette-knife weight in the sky, the flock built out of blunt blocks of pigment that only resolve into animals at a distance. The road pulls you in, the flock parts around the shepherd, and his hidden face lets him stand for anyone. It is rough in places where the style stops excusing it, but this is the only entrant who made a painting instead of taking a picture. My winner.
