The Snooker Game
Round 2
Image 4 β "pre-impact tension" : 3.20
The intent is cinematic but the execution is video-game cutscene: waxy skin, plasticky balls, and a cue line that wouldn't send that white anywhere near the reds. The tension in the title never makes it into the frame.
Image 3 β "friendly snooker in an Irish pub" : 3.65
That weathered face under the flat cap is the best character work of the round, and the Guinness-sign pub breathes real warmth. But the tiny, threadbare table reads pub pool, not snooker β charm over accuracy.
Image 1 β "The Deciding Frame" : 3.80
A proper full-size table, a believable ball spread, and a waistcoated opponent watching the line β this one knows what a snooker club actually looks like. Solid and atmospheric, just a touch stiff in the posing.
Image 2 β "Preparing to strike" : 4.00
Tournament snooker distilled into one frame: the player stretched low over the baize, eyes locked down the cue, a darkened crowd holding its breath behind him. The shallow focus through the pack of reds is a genuinely professional photographic choice, and the anatomy of the bridge hand β where AI usually falls apart β holds up. It has the drama the theme deserves. My winner.
