Ancient Mammoth Hunt
Round 539
Image 2 β "Bloody hunt" : 3.70
A snowbound melee with hunters closing in from both sides. Energetic, but the trunk curls into an impossible decorative spiral, the crossing spears tangle mid-frame, and the heavy blood pooling reads gratuitous rather than dramatic. Weakest anatomy of the field.
Image 1 β "Hunting mammoth was a hard job" : 3.80
Classic cinematic close-quarters duel β warm dust, strong textures, a wall of spears behind. Well lit and composed, but the lead hunter inexplicably wields both an axe and a spear, and the background figures go mushy. Solid, just conventional.
Image 4 β "hunting rage" : 3.85
The bold one: a found-footage selfie mid-charge, screaming hunter sharp in front, mammoth looming soft behind. Terrific face detail and snow spray, instantly memorable β but the GoPro perspective is an anachronism the theme has to forgive, and it's more portrait than hunt.
Image 3 β "Mammoth hunt is no joke" : 3.90
An epic wide shot that actually tells the story β the mammoth mid-charge scattering hunters across snow and rock under a storm sky. Best sense of scale, motion, and peril in the field; coherent anatomy and lighting throughout. The most complete image of the four. My winner.
