Pioneers fail 47% of the time. The companies that arrive second fail 8%. Google was the twentieth search engine. Being first is not the advantage. 🎲

Name the first search engine. The first social network. The first tablet.
Now name who owns those markets. That gap is the whole business. πŸ’€

Netflix walked into video rental, the most crowded market on earth. Tesla did not invent the electric car. Amazon did not invent the bookstore.

Show up with a better version of the same thing and you lose. If you show up having changed what the thing costs to make or deliver, your chances are up.

Look at what you are building. Write down what it costs you that it does not cost them.
