AI: the dangerous sentence now is "it's just like every other revolution"

There won't be a point where everyone sees it. Revolutions get named afterwards. Nobody in 1800 woke up and said "the Industrial Revolution has started." The name came decades later. This one will feel like an ordinary Tuesday too.

If I had to pick a real threshold, it isn't when AI gets smarter than us. It's when we stop being able to check it. Every past machine replaced muscle or skill, and humans moved up a floor to judging, deciding and verifying. That floor was always the escape. Now look at what's already normal: coders merging AI code they didn't read, people forwarding AI summaries of documents they never opened. Each time, checking is skipped because the output looks right.

Once you can't check, you can only trust. Trust without checking isn't tool use anymore, it's faith. That's the difference this time: the loom never asked you to believe in it.

Investors have an old saying that the most dangerous words are "this time it's different." I'd flip it for AI: the dangerous sentence now is "it's just like every other revolution."
