AI kills anything that sells information
The people survive, the business model doesn't.
At least, on phase one.
-
🏫 Schools: they survive. They're also childcare, discipline and friends, and no chatbot watches 25 kids. But the teacher shifts from lecturer to coach, and homework as we know it is dead.
-
🎓 Universities: the lectures are in trouble, while the diploma and the network hold on longer. The real crisis is grading: an essay no longer proves anyone learned anything.
-
📚 Professional courses: slaughtered, like the juniors. A $500 course that's really just information can't compete with free. The ones that survive sell an exam, hands-on practice, or people to keep you going.
The proof already exists:
Title: Chegg was worth over $12 billion. Students didn't stop studying. They stopped paying.
Chegg was once valued at more than $12 billion, and its stock peaked at $113.51 in February 2021. It has since fallen nearly 99%, and in October 2025 it announced cuts of 388 jobs, about 45% of its workforce, as students switched to free AI tools for homework help.
